Khomeesdrif Caravan and Camping Site

Khomeesdrif Caravan and Camping site is located close to the town of Riviersonderend (approx 8,5 km away) It is located on the banks of the Sonderend River. The campsite is located 160 kms from Cape Town and the drive will take you approximately 2h00m. Access is from theN2.
There are 40 campsites arranged alongt he banks of the Sonderend River.
There are two different camping sites. The first sites, which are located just at the entrance to the resort, are large and can accommodate a large number of campers. These are great if you plan on camping with family and friends. These sites are not demarcated, giving them an air of spaciousness. Then there are approximately 20 campsites arranged along the road that leads down to the river. These sites are arranged on either side of the road and are clearly demarcated. The sites are flat, shady and some are grassed. The campsite is situated on the edge of a poplar forrest, so the grass struggles to grow here.
There is no electricity on the camp sites and you are therefore advised to bring your solar panels and deep cycle batteries if you need to run your fridge. .
There are two large ablution facilities are consist of separate ladies and gents facilities. The bathrooms contain their own toilets, basins and showers. The hot water in each bathroom is solar generated, but also has a gas geyser back up for those cloudy days. The ablutions are modern and are kept neat and clean.
Each site has its own round stone braai and remember to bring your braai grid. Wood can be purchased on-site from the owner on request
Bins are provided at the sites.
There is a washing-up facility adjacent to the ablutions, consisting of washing-up basins and drying space. Don't forget to bring your own drying rack.
The campsites are located in close proximity to the river, which is wide and meandering at this location.
There is a lovely shaded deck on the banks of the river, just at the end of the road. There are wooden benches and chairs here, as well as a braai that looks out over the river.
There is a wooden jungle gym of the kids.
Wood and ice can be arranged with the owner.
All essentials can be purchased in the nearby town of Riviersonderend.
The camp site is pet friendly (with prior arrangement)
Motorised boats are permitted on the river.
Paddle boats and inner tubes are available on request.
Fishing for carp, bass and barber is permitted.
The N2 from Cape Town to Riviersonderend is tarred. The turnoff to the campsite is via the R406, which is a dirt road. This road is in a good condition and can be driven in a standard sedan. The campsite is located only 4,2 km from the turnoff.

This is a very popular camp site, which is host to various festivals. The width of the river at this site is ideal for all manner of water sports, and most of the activities are centered around the river and the deck area. The campsite would benefit greatly if there was electricity supplied to the sites, as this puts many campers off from coming here.
